Led by wellness expert, self-care advocate, speaker, author, mother of four and 15-year Breck mom, Julie Burton. RSVPs requested but not required. 6:00-8:00 PM | Breck Gathering: Whiskey and Cheese Tasting | Join us for a whiskey and cheese tasting, led by our own Ken Liss and hosted at the Ahluwalia family home.  Cost is $40 per couple or $20 per person. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will also be provided. Limited to the first 40 people. Kindly RSVP to Liz Pittinger by Friday, January 13.  Directions will be sent in a separate email.

National SAT Test Date

Parents Association Event: Special Olympics Poly Hockey Tournament (at Breck). Volunteer to help with the Special Olympics State Poly Hockey Tournament on Saturday, January 21, and/or Sunday, January 22. Parents and Lower and Middle School students can register at www.breckschool.org/volunteer. All LS and MS students must be accompanied by an adult. Upper School students should register to volunteer with Ms. Schmidt. Please contact Pam Grossman or Kim Bernstein with any questions.

1:00-2:30 PM | Girls Lacrosse Clinics — Session 3 (Blake Gym Hopkins). These free girls lacrosse clinics are open to all girls in grades 2-8, even if you have no lacrosse experience. Instruction is provided by high school varsity players and adult coaches. You must provide your own tennis shoes, colored mouth guard, water bottle, girls' lacrosse stick and goggles. (A limited number of girls lacrosse sticks and goggles will be available for loan.) This clinic will sometimes be offered at two locations: Breck Fieldhouse and Blake Gym, Hopkins Campus. Future clinic dates and locations are listed below. Questions? 8:15-9:45 AM | Parents Association Middle School Division Coffee (MS Dining Room). Topic: Surviving and Thriving in the Adolescent Years. Katy Pearson, Middle School Counselor, will address how to guide your children through adolescence, a time highlighted by peer pressure, identity seeking and inherent risk taking. Small group scenarios will be provided to highlight best practices in communicating with your adolescent and keeping family values at the forefront, with the intent of parents leaving feeling connected with other parents on the same journey.

8:45-10:15 AM | Parents Association Upper School Division Coffee (US Library) | Come learn about new courses, the curriculum, and course selection. Please join Tom Taylor and AJ Colianni as they walk us through what is new. This meeting will include important information about the May Program. The meeting will be live streamed and recorded. 9:30-11:00 AM | Admissions Event: Spend a Morning at Breck | Spend a Morning at Breck provides prospective parents the opportunity to experience a typical morning at the school. Begin by hearing from the Admissions team, followed by tours of the campus, a chance to sit in on classroom activities, meet with current students and faculty, and watch a typical Breck day unfold. Come experience what perpetually learning at Breck looks like through involvement in daily life. To register, click here.

Participants will gain an understanding of the purpose of financial aid, how to apply, and how Breck uses that information to calculate financial aid awards. Michael Thompson, Ph.D., is a consultant, author and psychologist specializing in children and families. He is the supervising psychologist for the Belmont Hill School and has worked in more than seven hundred schools across the United States, as well as in international schools in Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He will present The Pressured Child: Helping your Child find Success in School and Life. This presentation is best suited for Middle School and Upper School parents.
